Sun Sep 22 03:51:35 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominate England in Second ODI, Extend Winning Streak to 14

**Leeds, England:** Australia have extended their impressive winning streak to 14 ODIs, securing a comprehensive 68-run victory over England in the second match of the five-game series at Headingley on Saturday. This win gives them a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

The reigning world champions found themselves in a precarious position at 221-9 after losing the toss. However, a brilliant 74-run knock by wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who dominated a crucial last-wicket stand of 49 runs with Josh Hazlewood, propelled Australia to a respectable total of 270 all out.

England’s response was severely hampered by a new-look bowling attack, with veteran fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Hazlewood returning from illness to inflict early damage. Starc claimed 3-50, while Hazlewood took 2-54.

Jamie Smith’s 49-run innings offered some resistance but ultimately proved insufficient to prevent England’s collapse to 65-5. Aaron Hardie, making his ODI debut, took two wickets in two balls to further derail England’s hopes. England were eventually bowled out for 202, with nearly 10 overs remaining, leaving them with a mountain to climb.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh top-scored for Australia with a 60-run innings, but it was Carey’s crucial innings that proved the difference. His 67-ball knock included eight boundaries and three powerful sixes.

The series continues at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday, with England hoping to salvage some pride and avoid a clean sweep.
