**West Virginia, USA** – An outdoorsman, Kirk Price, has captured footage of a remarkable two-legged bear in the mountains of West Virginia. This isn’t Price’s first encounter with the unique animal, having initially spotted it two years ago.
Price believes the bear, estimated to be around eight years old, was born without front legs. He notes that the bear, which he describes as “very elusive,” has “almost doubled in size” since his first encounter.
The bear’s ability to navigate the terrain on its hind legs is a testament to its resilience. “He was already walking around by himself and was not a cub,” Price told USA Today. “A cub usually stays with their mother until close to two years old.”
Price has only seen the bear in person once but observed that it has “clean nubs,” leading him to believe it was born without front legs and not a victim of an accident or hunting.
While many commenters on Price’s Instagram video expressed concern for the bear’s well-being, Price insists that the animal appears healthy and is a survivor. He firmly believes the bear’s lack of front legs is a natural occurrence and a testament to its ability to adapt and overcome.
“I firmly believe he was born that way and has overcome all odds,” Price stated. “That’s what the focus should be on. This bear is truly amazing.”
Although Price is a hunter and regularly kills bears, he says he would never harm this particular bear. He is a “firm believer in conservation” and enjoys seeing bears thrive in the wild. “This particular bear is special, and I would never purposely hunt him,” he added.
