**SAN FRANCISCO, CA -** Google Calendar users on Android rejoice! The long-awaited feature of manually adding birthdays to the calendar is finally rolling out. This update eliminates the need to sync birthdays from Google Contacts, a cumbersome process that previously frustrated users.
Now, when creating an event in the Android app, a new “Birthday” option will appear alongside “Event,” “Tasks,” and “Out of Office.” Tapping on this chip allows users to directly input the birthday person’s name and date, customize notifications, and select a color for easy identification. The resulting birthday event features a festive cake icon and confetti, and is automatically added to the “Birthdays” calendar.
Google plans to bring this feature to web and iOS users in the future. The update is currently being rolled out to Android users over the next few weeks.
