**Kathmandu, Nepal:** A scathing report detailing the misuse of cooperative society savings funds in Nepal has been released by the Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on Cooperatives. The 1,124-page report, presented to the House of Representatives last week, was made public on Thursday.
The report, chaired by Surya Bahadur Thapa, highlights serious concerns about the misappropriation of funds and calls for swift action. In response, the Council of Ministers has pledged to implement the committee’s findings, forwarding the report to relevant ministries including Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Finance, and Home Affairs.
The report’s publication follows a period of intense scrutiny into the management of cooperative societies, which are often seen as vital for economic growth and social development in Nepal.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire has instructed the Parliament Secretariat to ensure the government takes immediate action based on the report’s recommendations.
