**São Paulo, Brazil** – Apple is expanding its iPhone production footprint, with the latest iPhone 16 model now being assembled in Brazil, alongside China and India. This marks the first time a newly launched iPhone is being assembled in Brazil from day one.
The standard iPhone 16 is being manufactured at the Foxconn facility in Jundiaí, São Paulo. While Apple has previously used this facility for iPhone assembly, this is the first time it will be used for a new model release.
The move comes as Apple continues to diversify its production, aiming to reduce reliance on China. The company has also expanded production to India, with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max being assembled at a Foxconn facility in Tamil Nadu.
Despite the expansion, initial pre-order numbers suggest lower demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max compared to their predecessors. However, the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models have seen higher pre-order numbers. This could be attributed to minimal upgrades in the Pro models, which feature only incremental improvements over last year’s models.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to hit store shelves on September 20.
