Fri Sep 20 08:43:16 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate Day 2 of First Test Against Bangladesh

**Chennai:** India continued their strong performance in the first Test match against Bangladesh on Day 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts, after declaring their innings at a formidable 339/6, bowled out Bangladesh for a paltry 110 runs, putting them in a commanding position.

Resuming on 339/6, India’s lower order, led by Ravichandran Ashwin (102*) and Ravindra Jadeja (86), put up a stellar display of resistance. The duo stitched together a crucial 195-run partnership for the seventh wicket, thwarting Bangladesh’s attempts to restrict India’s score.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack, particularly the pace bowlers, enjoyed early success, dismissing Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma (6), Virat Kohli (6), and Shubman Gill (0) cheaply. However, Ashwin and Jadeja’s brilliance proved too much for the visitors to handle.

In the second innings, Bangladesh were never in the hunt. Jadeja, continuing his excellent form, claimed 3 wickets while Ashwin bagged 2. The Bangladesh batting line-up crumbled under pressure, with only Liton Das (22) and Shakib Al Hasan (32) showing any resistance.

The impressive performance by the Indian bowlers and the crucial partnership between Ashwin and Jadeja has set up a comfortable lead for India. With the first Test heading towards a conclusion, India are poised to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
