**Roanoke, VA** – A Roanoke woman, Laura Marie Jones, 36, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 9:14 p.m. near milepost 101, close to Roanoke.
According to a National Park Service news release, rangers and first responders arrived on scene to find Jones deceased from injuries sustained in the collision. Preliminary investigations indicate Jones was traveling at a high rate of speed when she left the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused the tree to fall onto her vehicle.
The National Park Service is continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
