Wed Sep 18 07:07:54 UTC 2024: ## UK Announces 15 New Banking Hubs to Boost Cash Access

**London, UK** – Fifteen new banking hubs have been announced across the UK as part of new rules designed to ensure easy access to cash for communities. These hubs, operated by Cash Access UK, offer a shared space where customers of various banks can access basic services like cash withdrawals and deposits.

The hubs feature a Post Office counter for basic services, while staff from major high street banks rotate shifts to provide support on more complex matters. Small businesses are also provided with dedicated facilities for depositing banknotes and coins.

This initiative comes as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) introduces new rules requiring banks to assess the impact of branch closures and ATM removals on local cash access. Communities can now request a review if they feel cash access is lacking.

Link, the ATM network, will conduct assessments and recommend banking hubs, particularly in areas with only one remaining branch.

“Today is an important moment for the millions of people who rely on or prefer to use cash,” said Adrian Roberts, Link’s Deputy CEO. “The new rules will ensure that access to cash remains available on our high streets for years to come.”

As a result of these new rules, Link has reassessed 182 previously announced branch closures and identified communities in need of additional support. The following locations will be receiving new banking hubs:

* Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
* Market Harborough, Leicestershire
* Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales

This move is seen as a significant step towards ensuring financial inclusion and supporting communities who rely on cash transactions.
