**Chennai, India:** A heated exchange between India’s wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant and his Bangladesh counterpart Litton Das took center stage on Day 1 of the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The incident occurred in the 16th over of India’s innings, with Pant and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal attempting a quick single. While the ball deflected off Pant’s pads and rolled towards mid-wicket, Litton Das was visibly upset, questioning Pant’s decision to claim the run.

Pant, known for his fiery on-field persona, retorted, “Usko bhi to dekho mere ko kyu maar re ho? (You see him, why is he hitting me),” referring to the fielder chasing the ball. Litton, defending his fielder, countered, “Wo to maarega hi na,” (He will hit it), with Pant responding, “Main bhi to Bhaagunga (I will also run).”

The exchange, captured on the stump mic, sparked a heated debate on social media, with fans commenting on the intensity of the encounter.

Despite the incident, Pant went on to score a crucial 39 runs, forming a 62-run partnership with Jaiswal before falling prey to Hasan Mahmud, who dismissed him with a delivery outside the off stump.

Mahmud, the star of the day, also claimed the wickets of India captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli, finishing with impressive figures of 4/25 in 11 overs.
