Wed Sep 18 03:01:03 UTC 2024: ## NSW Man Wins $92,000 in US Power Lotto, Just One Number Shy of $226 Million Jackpot

A lucky New South Wales man narrowly missed out on a life-changing $226 million jackpot in the weekend’s USA Power Lotto draw, but still walked away with a significant win. The IT professional, who has been a customer of The Lottery Office since 2021, matched all but one number, landing him a division three prize worth over $92,000.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe it,” the man exclaimed when told of his win. He plans to use the money to take his first overseas holiday in 18 months and visit his family.

The division three prize usually pays $46,000, but the man had purchased a multiplier with his ticket, effectively doubling his winnings. The Lottery Office CEO Jaclyn Wood expressed her delight for the man, praising his luck.

With no one winning the jackpot, the prize has now climbed to $260 million for Thursday’s draw. Tickets are available through The Lottery Office until 10am AEST on Thursday.

The Lottery Office operates a system where they purchase a matching ticket in the US draw for every ticket sold in Australia. This allows Australian winners to receive the full amount of their winnings.

The USA Power Lotto, a local version of the US-based Powerball, offers a chance to win big with odds of one in 292.2 million for the jackpot. While the chances of winning the top prize are slim, players have a one in 25 chance of winning any prize at all.
