Wed Sep 18 06:36:59 UTC 2024: ## Bauchi Governor Reassures Stability Amidst PDP In-Fighting, Denies Wike’s Claims

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed claims by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that the state could be destabilized, asserting that “Bauchi has volumes of water.”

Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, made the statement during a meeting with the party’s National Working Committee in Bauchi on Tuesday. He attributed Wike’s comments to annoyance stemming from a past exchange, emphasizing that the relationship remains amicable.

“My friend is my friend, my job is my job, and leadership is leadership,” he stated, adding that discussions regarding internal party issues would take place during the meeting.

The PDP’s Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN, confirmed that the visit was to show support for Governor Mohammed and acknowledge his leadership of the Governors’ Forum, while acknowledging ongoing challenges within the party.

Mohammed’s statement comes just weeks after Wike accused PDP governors of meddling in the control of the party in Rivers State. Wike, angered by the governors’ endorsement of Siminalayi Fubara as the state’s party leader, organized a rival congress to solidify his faction’s hold on the Rivers PDP.

The meeting in Bauchi signifies the ongoing internal struggles within the PDP, with tensions between the party leadership and various factions adding to the already complex political landscape.
