Thu Sep 19 09:09:00 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate Day 1 Against Bangladesh, Jaiswal and Pant Shine

**CHATTOGRAM, BANGLADESH:** India put on a dominant display on day one of the first Test against Bangladesh, reaching 146/3 at stumps thanks to half-centuries from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.

Jaiswal, playing his second Test match, anchored the innings with a composed 57 runs off 115 balls, showcasing his impressive technique and temperament. Pant, meanwhile, continued his aggressive batting style, smashing 46 off 57 deliveries.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack struggled to find its rhythm, with Hasan Mahmud being the only bowler to pick up multiple wickets. He finished the day with figures of 4/35, dismissing both Jaiswal and Pant.

The Indian openers, Jaiswal and KL Rahul (15), gave their team a solid start, laying the foundation for a big score. However, a sudden collapse saw the dismissal of Rahul and Virat Kohli (0) in quick succession, leaving India at 45/2.

Pant then joined Jaiswal and the pair combined for a crucial 80-run partnership, putting Bangladesh under pressure. The partnership was broken when Pant fell to Hasan Mahmud, leaving India at 125/3.

The day ended with India still in a comfortable position, with Ravindra Jadeja (7*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (11*) at the crease.

The first Test continues tomorrow with India looking to build on their strong start and put Bangladesh on the back foot.
