Thu Sep 19 08:29:15 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Day 1 of First Test Against Bangladesh in Chennai

**Chennai, India:** India started their two-match Test series against Bangladesh with a strong performance on day one, reaching 135/4 at stumps, despite losing early wickets. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored for India with 52 runs before being dismissed by Nahimad Rana.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to capitalize on the moisture in the pitch, but Indian batsmen, particularly Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant (39 runs), showed resilience and frustrated the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers, taking three wickets, including those of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli.

The first session saw India struggle to establish a foothold, losing three wickets for 75 runs. However, Jaiswal and Pant’s 50-run partnership brought some stability to the Indian innings.

Pant’s dismissal in the second session after a promising start disappointed the Indian fans, but Jaiswal’s half-century gave the team a solid platform to build upon.

India will look to build on their day one performance and aim for a substantial first innings lead on day two. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will need to bounce back and find a way to break the Indian batting order and stay in contention.

The two teams will meet again in Kanpur for the second Test starting on October 1st.
