The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a groundbreaking step towards gender equality in sport, announcing equal prize money for both the men’s and women’s T20 World Cup tournaments. This historic decision, made at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2023, takes effect with the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, seven years ahead of the council’s initial 2030 target.

The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will boast a total prize pool of US$7.96 million, a remarkable 225% increase from the previous edition.
