Wed Sep 18 21:47:00 UTC 2024: ## Local Arts Leader Honored with Director Emerita Title

**WOLFEBORO, NH** – Barbara Olcott, a longtime advocate for the arts in the Lakes Region, was recently named Director Emerita of the Great Waters Music Festival. The honor was bestowed upon Olcott at a reception held at Quietude in Tuftonboro, following the organization’s annual board meeting.

Olcott has been a driving force behind the festival since its inception in 1996, playing a key role in its growth and success. She served as the first vice president of the board and spearheaded a capital campaign to purchase an 800-seat acoustic tent, which was ultimately placed on the campus of Brewster Academy. Her extensive knowledge of the music industry helped bring top talent to the festival, and she generously opened her home to visiting performers.

After a brief hiatus, Olcott rejoined the board in 2019, just as the pandemic forced the festival to go dark. She then played a crucial role in finding a new location for the acoustic tent, leading to a partnership with the Castle in the Clouds in 2020.

Olcott’s contributions to the arts extend beyond Great Waters. She currently serves on the board of the Dramatists Guild Foundation in New York City and has held positions on the boards of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, the Hartford Stage Company, and other prominent organizations.

Her passion for the arts and her dedication to the Lakes Region community have earned her widespread recognition and admiration. The Great Waters Music Festival, and the entire region, are fortunate to have benefited from her leadership and vision.
