**Singapore** – With the Singapore Grand Prix set to kick off this weekend (Sept 20-22), businesses are preparing for the influx of visitors and the usual disruption the Formula 1 event brings. While hotels within the Marina Bay Street Circuit area are expecting a record-breaking year in terms of revenue, businesses outside the circuit are adapting to the influx of visitors and the inevitable dip in local customers.
The Museum of Ice Cream at Dempsey Hill, for instance, typically sees visitor numbers drop by up to 30% during race weekends. To combat this, the museum is partnering with the Singapore Tourism Board to offer F1 pass holders a one-for-one entry with the purchase of an Anytime Ticket, hoping to attract pre-race visitors.
Other businesses are also capitalizing on the F1 theme, with Gallery26 Dempsey showcasing the history of the Singapore Grand Prix and featuring iconic Ferrari F1 cars. Mr Bucket Chocolaterie is offering a unique chocolate workshop where visitors can build their own chocolate race car.
Hotels located directly on the circuit, such as Fairmont Singapore and Swissotel The Stamford, are experiencing an increase in bookings, with revenue expected to be up by 15% this year. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel are fully booked for rooms with trackside views.
Travel website Trip.com has also seen a surge in bookings, with inbound flights up 90% and hotel bookings up 60% for the race weekend.
While road closures around the Marina Centre and Padang area will be in effect from Wednesday (Sept 18), the Singapore Grand Prix is expected to draw a significant number of visitors and contribute positively to the local economy.
