Wed Sep 18 21:07:00 UTC 2024: ## Oklahoma Court Finds Man Civilly Liable for Death of Teen Girl
**Prague, OK** – A Lincoln County District Court has found Cody Baker civilly liable for the death of 14-year-old Alaunna Raffield, who was found dead in December 2020. The court awarded a judgment of $11,688,485.30 to the estate of Alaunna Raffield, citing punitive damages for “shocking behavior,” pain and suffering, lost future earnings, and loss of companionship.
Alaunna’s death was the subject of a botched police investigation, as acknowledged by lead investigator Officer Matthew Hensley in an affidavit. The inadequate investigation led to the Oklahoma State Legislature creating the “Alaunna Raffield Fund” to provide investigative training to law enforcement in small towns.
The civil lawsuit, brought by Palmer Law PLC, revealed that Cody Baker, who had stalked Alaunna and called her “my forever love,” used multiple aliases, including “Cody Terrell” and “Cody Mullen.” The lawsuit also uncovered that Baker had access to a pickup truck on the night of Alaunna’s death, a fact overlooked in the initial investigation.
Attorney Brandon Pierson called the judgment a bittersweet victory, stating that it officially assigns legal blame for Alaunna’s death but does not bring back the young girl. He also expressed hope that the judgment will prompt the Lincoln County District Attorney to re-open the criminal investigation into Alaunna’s death.
Alaunna’s mother, Heather Williams, who acted as special administrator for her daughter’s estate, has requested privacy during this difficult time.
