Wed Sep 18 05:51:50 UTC 2024: ## Kamareddy IDOC to Go Solar, Following Successful Pilot Project

**NIZAMABAD:** The Telangana government is planning to power the entire Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Kamareddy with solar energy. This ambitious project follows the successful implementation of a pilot solar plant at the Chief of Planning office within the IDOC.

The pilot project, which generated 1 KW of power, demonstrated the feasibility and efficiency of solar energy in powering the IDOC, which houses 35 to 40 district offices.

The estimated cost of setting up a 10 KW solar power plant for the entire IDOC is around Rs 95 lakh. If the government approves funding, the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDC) will undertake the project.

The move comes as the Union Government has mandated that all its offices across the country should be powered by solar energy by the end of the current financial year.

The Kamareddy IDOC’s CPO, T Rajaram, lauded the pilot project’s success, stating that the solar system generates 35 units of power daily, with only 20 units being used internally. The remaining power is sold to Genco at Rs 3 per unit, generating revenue for the IDOC.

The officials are optimistic about the feasibility of solar power for the entire IDOC, even during the monsoon season, as the pilot project experienced no disruptions in power generation.
