Royal commentator Jennie Bond has criticized Meghan Markle for potentially damaging the relationship between her children, Archie and Lilibet, and the rest of the Royal Family. In a recent interview with OK magazine, Bond suggested that Meghan’s decision to relocate the family to California may create a disconnect between the children and their British relatives, particularly as they grow older.
Bond expressed sympathy for Prince Harry’s desire to shield his children from the complexities of his own childhood, marked by his parents’ tumultuous marriage. However, she pointed out that the family’s self-imposed exile could lead to a situation where Archie and Lilibet feel alienated from their extended family, including their grandfather, King Charles, and uncle, Prince William, who are both key figures in the royal hierarchy.
“Imagine Archie, aged 15, telling his friends, ‘My grandpa is/was King! And my uncle is/will be King too.’ But he hardly knew or met them. How sad… and Meghan would have to bear the brunt of the responsibility for that,” Bond said.
While acknowledging Meghan’s desire to provide the best for her children, Bond stressed the importance of ensuring they understand their heritage and family connections. She expressed hope that the future will see a reconciliation between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family, allowing for a more united future for the next generation of royals, regardless of geographical distance.
