Wed Sep 18 06:22:36 UTC 2024: ## Melton Secondary College Students Showcase Artistic Talent at Annual Exhibition

**Melton, Victoria** – Students from Melton Secondary College recently captivated audiences with their artistic prowess at the school’s annual art exhibition. Held on Thursday, September 12th, the event showcased a diverse range of creative works from various disciplines, including paintings, short films, live performances, and installations.

The exhibition provided a platform for students to explore powerful themes and share their unique perspectives. Emma, for instance, used a blend of live action and animation to create a poignant story about “isolation and loneliness.” Her piece aimed to represent the struggles of feeling different, both mentally and physically, and to remind viewers that they are not alone in their experiences.

Similarly, Elena’s large oil painting delved into the growing issue of alienation in society. Through her art, she highlighted the disconnect between individuals, both online and in person, and the apathy that often accompanies it. The painting depicted a bystander effect, where people choose to ignore problems due to indifference.

Drew’s two paintings contrasted the male gaze and female gaze, exploring themes of sexualization and liberty. She aimed to demonstrate the juxtaposition between different views and the impact they have on individuals, particularly young girls who are often forced to conform to certain societal expectations.

The exhibition was a testament to the dedication and talent of the students, many of whom have applied for the prestigious Top Arts and Top Screen 2025 programs. This coveted selection would allow their work to be showcased at the National Gallery of Victoria alongside the best of VCE art and media pieces.

The annual art exhibition at Melton Secondary College serves as a testament to the importance of fostering creative expression and providing students with a platform to share their unique voices with the community.
