**FORNEBU, Norway – September 17, 2024** – Aker Horizons ASA announced today that Lars P. S. Sperre has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2024. Sperre will succeed Kristian Røkke, who will be proposed to the Nomination Committee of Aker Horizons for the position of Chairman of the Board at an upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting.
Øyvind Eriksen, CEO of Aker ASA and current Chairman of Aker Horizons, expressed confidence in Sperre’s ability to lead the company through its next phase of growth. Eriksen highlighted Sperre’s extensive experience in industrial development and capital markets, along with his successful navigation of complex situations during his time at Norske Skog.
Røkke, who has served as CEO for the past four years, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Aker Horizons through a period of rapid expansion in the renewable energy sector. He emphasized the valuable experience gained from being a first mover in emerging markets and new technologies, and looks forward to contributing to the company’s continued growth in his new role as Chairman.
Sperre, with a 17-year career at Norske Skog including serving as SVP Corporate Strategy and CEO, expressed his excitement to join Aker Horizons and lead the company forward. Aker has proposed that Røkke become Chairman of the Board and Eriksen become Deputy Chairman. The rest of the Board remains unchanged. The Nomination Committee will discuss the proposed changes at its earliest convenience and Aker Horizons will soon call for an Extraordinary General Meeting.
