Sun Sep 15 16:31:48 UTC 2024: ## Halifax Mooseheads New Coach Rejects ‘Rebuild’ Mentality, Focuses on Winning

Halifax Mooseheads’ new head coach, Andrew Lord, is not buying into the “rebuild” narrative surrounding the team, despite inheriting a young roster. After trading away veteran players to stockpile draft picks, the Mooseheads are entering a new era with a focus on development.

However, Lord is adamant that “rebuild” is not in his vocabulary. “We have to go in and our mindset has to be to win every game,” he stated. “There’s no point in thinking about our age or what excuses there could be.”

The team’s young forward, Braeden MacPhee, echoes Lord’s sentiment. “Just because we’re younger doesn’t mean that we’re a worse team,” he said. MacPhee, one of the team’s three overage players, commends Lord’s dedication to detail and energy, noting it’s a positive influence on the team’s young players.

Lord, a veteran of both playing and coaching, believes that a team with a strong identity can achieve great things, regardless of age. He emphasizes the importance of daily improvement and collective growth. “If we do that better than everyone else in the league on a day-to-day basis, and we grow more than everyone else in the league throughout the season, you know, I think really good things can happen.”

The Mooseheads open their regular season on Friday in Charlottetown, eager to prove that youth and experience can be a winning combination under Lord’s leadership.
