
Mon Sep 16 18:56:03 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi Inaugurates Ahmedabad Metro Extension, Launches Development Projects Worth Rs 8,000 Crores
**Ahmedabad, India (ANI):** Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Extension on Monday, marking a significant step in the city’s public transportation infrastructure. The extension, developed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) with support from the state and central governments, will connect key areas, including GIFT City.
Following the inauguration, PM Modi, along with Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, took a ride on the new metro line.
The day also saw the launch of multiple development projects worth over Rs 8,000 crores in Ahmedabad. The PM laid the foundation stone for several key initiatives, including:
* Quadrupling of the Samakhiali-Gandhidham and Gandhidham-Adipur railway lines.
* Development of iconic roads within the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
* Construction of flyover bridges at Bakrol, Hathijan, Ramol, and Panjarpol Junction.
Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated a 30 MW solar system and a 35 MW BESS Solar PV Project at the Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station, along with 220 kV substations in Morbi and Rajkot.
Further, PM Modi launched the International Financial Services Centres Authority’s Single Window IT System (SWITS), aimed at streamlining financial services. He also sanctioned over 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and released the first installment for these homes. Construction of houses under the PMAY scheme was also launched, and beneficiaries of completed houses under both the urban and rural segments of the PMAY received their keys.
The day concluded with the flagging off of India’s first Vande Metro from Bhuj to Ahmedabad, alongside several Vande Bharat trains on various routes, including Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, Durg to Visakhapatnam, Pune to Hubballi, and the first 20-coach Vande Bharat train from Varanasi to Delhi.
