Mon Sep 16 19:31:20 UTC 2024: ## Lunar Eclipse 2024 Won’t Be Visible in India
**New Delhi, [Date]**: A penumbral lunar eclipse is set to take place on September 18, 2024, coinciding with the start of the Pitru Paksha period. However, the celestial event will not be visible in India.
The eclipse will begin at 6:11 AM IST with the penumbral phase, followed by the partial eclipse at 7:42 AM IST. The maximum eclipse will occur at 8:14 AM IST, and the penumbral phase will end at 10:17 AM IST.
While astrologers are excited about this astronomical event, it is unfortunate that Indians will miss out on witnessing it as it will occur during daytime in India.
A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon. This can result in a total, partial, or penumbral eclipse. During a partial eclipse, only a portion of the Moon is covered by Earth’s shadow, giving it a distinctive reddish hue.
The lunar eclipse on September 18th falls on the first day of Pitru Paksha, a period dedicated to paying homage to ancestors in Hindu tradition. While the eclipse won’t be visible, its occurrence during this time holds special significance.
The planetary positions on the day of the eclipse are notable: Jupiter in Taurus, Mars in Gemini, Mercury in Leo, Sun, Venus and Ketu in Virgo, retrograde Saturn in Aquarius, and Moon and Rahu in Pisces.
The eclipse’s influence on the zodiac signs is a topic of discussion among astrologers.
