**ABUJA, NIGERIA –** As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-el Maulud, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government to re-evaluate its policies and prioritize the welfare of citizens.
In a statement released on Sunday, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba urged the government to address wasteful spending, tackle corruption, and allocate resources to projects that directly benefit Nigerians.
The statement highlighted the current economic hardship and worsening insecurity, blaming these issues on the APC government’s “anti-people policies.” The PDP urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el Maulud to “reinforce their hope in the Almighty Allah for direction and care for one another,” recognizing the hardship faced by millions due to bad governance.
The opposition party expressed concern over the inability of many Nigerians to afford celebrations due to the economic situation. They advised government officials to use this occasion for introspection and review policies that inflict hardship on citizens.
The PDP specifically demanded the immediate review of policies that increase the cost of living, including fuel price hikes, tax increases, and other “anti-people” measures. They further called for an end to profligacy and corruption, emphasizing the need for the government to prioritize citizens’ needs through resource allocation.
The PDP’s statement serves as a timely reminder to the government to focus on addressing the pressing issues facing Nigerians as they celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) on Eid-el Maulud.
