Srinagar, Kashmir – Thousands of devotees converged at the revered Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar for a night-long prayer vigil on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad un Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The celebration, marked by great religious fervor across Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India, saw devotees seek inspiration from the Prophet’s exemplary character and teachings. The day is dedicated to reaffirming the values of peace, love, and empathy, promoting harmony within the Muslim community and fostering understanding of Islam’s core values.

Devotees will have the opportunity to view the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after pre-dawn prayers on Tuesday morning, and again after each of the day’s remaining four prayers. Similar prayers are being held at mosques and shrines across Kashmir.

The Hazratbal shrine administration reported that thousands of men, women, and children arrived at the shrine for the night-long prayers. The head cleric will display the holy relic for devotees after each prayer on Tuesday.

The Waqaf Board has ensured the convenience of devotees at the shrine, deploying various departments including Public Health Engineering, the Health Department, and Power Development Department for their service. ‘Hazratbal Special’ buses from Road Transport Corporation will run from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal throughout the day.

Extensive security arrangements have been implemented in and around the Hazratbal shrine, with police closely monitoring traffic and parking management.
