Mon Sep 16 14:01:01 UTC 2024: ## Younis Khan Criticizes Babar Azam’s Leadership, Urges Focus on Team Performance

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has publicly criticized current captain Babar Azam and other top players for prioritizing personal gains over team objectives, amidst Azam’s recent slump in form. Khan expressed disappointment at the team’s recent lack of victories, stating that Azam and his colleagues “talk more than they perform.”

Khan, in a recent interview with Cricket Pakistan, emphasized the importance of playing for the country over individual accolades. He pointed to Indian captain Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from captaincy to focus on his batting, suggesting Azam follow suit.

“Look at Virat Kohli,” said Khan. “He chose to step down from captaincy on his own terms, and now he’s breaking records worldwide.”

Khan urged Azam to “focus on his cricket” and improve his performance, reminding him that his captaincy stemmed from his status as the team’s best player. He also advised the team to use social media wisely, emphasizing that “their real answers should come through their performances.”

Despite the recent criticisms and calls for change, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appears to be standing behind Azam, at least for now. Sources within the PCB have confirmed that there have been no discussions about replacing the captain, leaving the decision to head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie and the selectors.
