**Moscow, Russia** – The Russian Defense Ministry has reported shooting down three Ukrainian fighter jets in the last 24 hours, including two Sukhoi Su-27s and a Mikoyan MiG-29. The ministry also claimed to have intercepted a US-made HIMARS rocket, four French-made Hammer guided bombs, and 55 drones.
In addition to the aerial victories, Russia reported inflicting significant losses on Ukrainian ground forces, claiming the destruction of over 2,200 Ukrainian troops and numerous pieces of equipment, including American M777 towed artillery pieces and British L-119 howitzers.
These claims come as Ukraine continues to receive Western military aid, including F-16 fighter jets. While Ukraine has received a limited number of F-16s, one was lost in its maiden combat deployment in August, with the cause of the crash still under investigation.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not confirmed the downing of any F-16s, but some Russian outlets have claimed that an F-16 may have been destroyed on the ground during a Russian missile strike.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the use of F-16s in the conflict would make them legitimate targets for Russian forces, even at airfields inside NATO countries.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides claiming significant victories and inflicting heavy losses on each other. The situation remains volatile and unpredictable, with the potential for further escalation and international involvement.
