Sun Sep 15 10:11:18 UTC 2024: ## Texas A&M Upsets Florida in Swamp, Snapping SEC Road Skid

**GAINESVILLE, FL** – Texas A&M football pulled off a stunning upset Saturday, defeating the Florida Gators 33-20 in “The Swamp.” The victory marked the Aggies’ first SEC road win since 2021 and came without their starting quarterback, Connor Weigman.

Redshirt freshman Marcel Reed stepped into the starting role and delivered a standout performance. He finished with 178 yards on 11-for-17 passing, three total touchdowns, and 83 yards rushing. Reed’s athleticism opened up running lanes for LeVeon Moss and Amari Daniels, who combined for 178 rushing yards.

Cyrus Allen led the receiving corps with 81 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown. The Aggies’ offensive line dominated the trenches, creating space for both the running backs and Reed’s passing attack.

Defensively, Texas A&M stifled Florida’s rushing attack, holding them to just 52 yards on 25 attempts. While Florida quarterback Graham Mertz found success against the Aggies’ secondary, freshman DJ Lagway struggled against the pressure, throwing two interceptions.

Special teams played well for the Aggies, with Tyler White punting just once. However, kicker Randy Bond missed two field goals from 40 yards out.

The victory was a testament to coach Mike Elko’s preparation and the team’s resilience. Despite a high number of penalties, 13 for 114 yards, the Aggies displayed the necessary grit to overcome adversity and secure the win.

Next, Texas A&M will host Bowling Green at home.
