Sun Sep 15 11:10:40 UTC 2024: ## Jets’ Reddick Holdout Costs Him Millions, Deal Seemingly Far Off

**New York, NY** – The New York Jets’ defensive woes continue off the field as star pass rusher Haason Reddick remains in a contract stalemate with the team, costing him millions of dollars.

Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been holding out for a new contract since the offseason, requesting a trade on August 12th. He has not participated in training camp or preseason games, and will miss Sunday’s game against the Titans.

This holdout is costing Reddick a significant amount of money. He will forfeit roughly $800,000 for missing the game against the Titans, adding to his already hefty losses, which now total approximately $8 million in fines, unearned salary and bonus forfeiture.

If Reddick holds out for the entire season, he stands to lose an estimated $21.75 million, including $14.25 million in base salary and a maximum $3 million in discretionary bonus forfeiture.

The Jets acquired Reddick via trade from the Philadelphia Eagles in March, and he participated in an introductory press conference. However, he has not returned to the facility since.

Despite the holdout, Jets coach Robert Saleh expressed his continued support for Reddick and hopes he will eventually return to the team. “We’re going to love him up, and he’s going to be a part of this football team and he’s going to help us win a lot of football games,” Saleh said.

The Jets’ season opened with a tough loss to the 49ers, and they will face the Titans in their second game of the season. While the team is focused on the current season, the Reddick situation remains a major storyline, with no immediate resolution in sight.
