Sun Sep 15 12:45:25 UTC 2024: ## Maoist Centre Declines Coalition Talks, Focuses on Grassroots Mobilization

**JHAPA, Nepal –** Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” announced on Sunday that his party will not participate in forming a new ruling coalition.

Speaking at a program in Birtamod of Jhapa, Prachanda stated that the Maoist Centre will focus on mobilizing the people and building grassroots support, rather than engaging in power-sharing arrangements.

“The Maoist Centre will focus on reaching out to the people and organizing them,” Prachanda said, welcoming leaders and cadres from other parties to join the Maoist Centre. He advised the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML not to seek the Maoist Centre’s involvement in power-sharing arrangements.

This decision marks a shift in strategy for the Maoist Centre, indicating a focus on building a strong base outside the government. It remains to be seen how this will affect the political landscape as the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML navigate coalition talks.
