The largest US Catholic advocacy group, CatholicVote, is launching a six-figure ad campaign targeting Vice President Kamala Harris in four key swing states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Michigan. The ads, airing starting Monday, focus on the issue of taxpayer-funded sex-change surgeries for minors, a policy supported by the Harris-Biden administration.
The ads utilize Medicaid data to highlight the number of surgeries performed on children in each state, including breast removal and hysterectomies. They accuse Harris of supporting “medical experiments on kids” and claim that “most people have no idea” of the extent of the “trans agenda.”
The campaign comes in response to the administration’s stance on gender-affirming care, which allows children to undergo transgender surgery with parental and medical approval. The White House maintains that while surgeries are typically reserved for adults, it won’t prevent children from receiving them under these conditions.
CatholicVote, echoing the Vatican’s stance, argues that such procedures violate the “unique dignity” of a person. The organization’s President Brian Burch criticizes Harris for her “flip-flop” on various issues, claiming that she remains steadfast in her support for taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries.
Harris’ campaign has not responded to the allegations. The ads are expected to target Catholic voters and families with children, aiming to sway them against the Vice President in the upcoming election.
