Sun Sep 15 14:10:18 UTC 2024: ## NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 GDDR6 Priced Higher Than GDDR6X Variant in Europe

Despite offering nearly identical performance to the original RTX 4070 GDDR6X at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, the newly released NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory is being sold at a higher price in certain European markets.

In Germany and Austria, retailers are listing the GDDR6 version of the card for a premium over its GDDR6X counterpart, with some models even exceeding €600. This is despite the fact that the GDDR6 version offers slightly lower performance at 4K resolution due to its slower memory configuration.

For instance, the Palit GeForce RTX 4070 White OC 12GB GDDR6 is currently the cheapest option at €562.07, while the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Windforce OC V2 12G GDDR6, the most expensive, is listed at €614.00. Meanwhile, the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 EVO OC edition, featuring GDDR6X memory, can be found for as low as €536.73.

Experts suggest that this pricing discrepancy may be a temporary issue and the price of the GDDR6 version could potentially drop to align with the GDDR6X variant in the near future. However, for now, it’s advisable to opt for the original RTX 4070 GDDR6X due to its lower price point and slightly better performance.

This unexpected pricing strategy by NVIDIA has sparked debate among consumers and industry analysts, with many questioning the rationale behind a higher price for a seemingly inferior product. It remains to be seen how this situation will evolve and whether the GDDR6 version will ultimately find its footing in the market.
