**Castlerea, Co. Roscommon:** Gardaí are investigating the death of a cyclist whose body was found in the early hours of Sunday morning at Cloonchambers, Castlerea. The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was discovered at approximately 2am and pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was subsequently transported to Roscommon University Hospital, where a postmortem examination is scheduled to take place. Gardaí have stated that the results of the postmortem will determine the direction of their investigation.
The road where the cyclist was found remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses of the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to road users who may have captured footage, including dashcam footage, while travelling in the Castlerea area between midnight and 2am on Sunday, September 15th.
