Billings, MT – After three decades of dedicated service, Billings Clinic Foundation President Jim Duncan has announced his retirement. Duncan, known for his tireless advocacy for the clinic and the community, will officially step down on December 31st. He plans to spend his time traveling, pursuing his passion for wildlife photography, and enjoying walks with his springer spaniel, Dotty.
Duncan’s career has been marked by a dedication to improving healthcare in the Montana-Wyoming region. He played a pivotal role in the development of ZooMontana, helped organize the Yes For Kids campaign for Billings Public Schools, and led the foundation through a period of significant growth, expanding its assets from $3 million to $150 million.
Duncan is also credited with turning the annual Billings Clinic Classic into a major social event, attracting hundreds of volunteers and raising millions of dollars for critical healthcare initiatives. He helped fund the construction of new cancer and cardiac centers, inpatient pediatric, neonatal, and intensive care units, and supported the establishment of the state’s first internal medicine and psychiatric residency programs.
“Jim has been a tireless advocate for Billings Clinic, for progress in healthcare, and for communities across Montana and Wyoming,” said Billings Clinic CEO Dr. Clint Seger. “He’s done that by keeping what truly matters, our patients and people, at the heart of everything he does.”
While Duncan’s departure marks the end of an era, those who know him best believe he won’t be idle for long. His passion for community service and unwavering commitment to making a difference are likely to lead him to new ventures in the years to come.
