**New Delhi, September 14th:** Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday extended greetings to the nation on Hindi Diwas, emphasizing the importance of Hindi as a unifying force that complements and strengthens all Indian languages.
“Hindi is a friend to all Indian languages,” Shah stated, dismissing any notion of competition between Hindi and other languages. He emphasized that languages like Gujarati, Marathi, and Telugu, among others, provide strength to Hindi, and in return, Hindi strengthens these languages.
Shah pointed out that prominent figures in the Hindi movement, including Rajagopalachari and Mahatma Gandhi, hailed from non-Hindi speaking regions, further emphasizing the unifying nature of the language.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts over the past decade to promote both Hindi and local languages, Shah highlighted Modi’s use of Hindi on international platforms as a testament to its growing global relevance.
He announced the development of a new portal by the Department of Official Language, utilizing artificial intelligence to translate documents and speeches from Hindi to all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. This initiative, he believes, will further strengthen both Hindi and local languages.
“This year’s Hindi Diwas is very important for all of us because on September 14th, 1946, the Constituent Assembly of India accepted Hindi as the official language,” Shah said, underscoring the historical significance of the day.
