Sat Sep 14 18:57:58 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru FC Start Season Strong with 1-0 Victory Over East Bengal

Bengaluru FC kicked off their 2024-25 Indian Super League campaign with a resounding 1-0 victory over East Bengal at the Kanteerava Stadium. The match, played in front of a passionate home crowd, saw a young star shine as Vinith Venkatesh scored the only goal of the game, securing all three points for the Blues.

The match started with both managers opting for surprise lineups, with Gerard Zaragoza leaving Jorge Pereyra Diaz on the bench for Bengaluru and Carles Cuadrat starting without Madih Talal for East Bengal.

While East Bengal had early chances, including a powerful shot from Jeakson Singh that forced a save from Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, it was Bengaluru who struck first. Edgar Mendez, showcasing his versatility, picked up a loose ball from Sunil Chhetri, turned, and played a perfect pass to Vinith, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner in the 26th minute.

The second half saw Bengaluru in control, while East Bengal struggled with disciplinary issues, accumulating five yellow cards. The introduction of Madih Talal and Cleiton Silva for East Bengal added some threat, but their efforts were ultimately thwarted.

East Bengal came close to an equalizer when Cleiton received a flick-on in the box, but his teammate David Lalhlansanga distracted him, leading to a missed volley. In the final minutes, Chungnunga Lal received a second yellow card for bringing down Ryan Williams, reducing East Bengal to 10 men.

Bengaluru, however, held on to their lead and celebrated a well-deserved victory, despite playing through 11 minutes of injury time. This impressive start to the season sets a positive tone for the Blues as they aim for further success in the ISL.
