Fri Sep 13 13:36:00 UTC 2024: ## Florida Teenager Charged with Murdering Mother, a Year After Killing Father

**AUBURNDALE, FL** – A Florida teenager, Collin Griffith, 17, has been charged with the murder of his mother, Catherine Griffith, 39, just one year after he was charged with fatally shooting his father, Charles Griffith, in Oklahoma.

On Sunday, Griffith called police, claiming his mother had lunged at him with a knife during an argument and accidentally stabbed herself while falling. However, inconsistencies between his story and the evidence at the scene raised suspicion. Witnesses reported seeing Griffith arguing with his mother outside the home before dragging her inside by her hair while she screamed for help.

Investigators found Catherine Griffith dead from a deep stab wound to the neck, a wound ruled inconsistent with an accidental injury by the Medical Examiner. Collin Griffith was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and violation of a no-contact order.

This latest arrest comes a year after Griffith was charged with fatally shooting his father in Oklahoma. While initially claiming self-defense, those charges were dropped a month later. Sheriff Grady Judd described Griffith as a “violent predator” and called for Oklahoma authorities to reopen the investigation into Charles Griffith’s death.

“He has now killed both his father and his mother,” Judd said. “We will hold him accountable in Polk County. We will do everything we can to keep him separated from civil society.”

Catherine Griffith’s social media posts depict a loving mother who was incredibly proud of her son. She even gifted him a new car for his high school graduation, posting a picture of him smiling beside it with the caption, “Happy early graduation present! Congratulations Collin on your brand new VW Jetta! I love you and am so proud of you.”

Collin Griffith is currently in custody in Florida. The tragic story has shocked the community and serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence.
