**Mumbai, India** – The highly acclaimed 2018 horror-fantasy film, “Tumbbad,” is set to return with a sequel, titled “Tumbbad 2.” Actor and producer Sohum Shah, who also starred in the original, made the announcement on Saturday via an ominous teaser video on his Instagram account.

The teaser features Vinayak and his son Pandurang, with Sohum Shah’s voiceover stating, “Time moves in circles. What happened in the past will return again… The door will reopen.” The video culminates with the chilling words, “Pralay, Pralay phir aayega” (The deluge, the deluge will return), hinting at a darker and more expansive sequel.

The announcement comes after the successful re-release of “Tumbbad” in theaters after six years. The film broke its own box office records, surpassing iconic films like “Sholay,” “Mughal-e-Azam,” and “Rockstar” in opening day collections.

“Tumbbad has been a special journey and a labour of love for us,” shared Sohum Shah in a statement. “To see the love it continues to receive is overwhelming and only ratifies our belief and ethos of Sohum Shah Films, that content is king. With Tumbbad 2, we want to push the cinematic experience and boundaries even further.”

He added, “Tumbbad 2 will take audiences deeper into the world we’ve created, with bigger twists and a more intense exploration of what happens when greed knows no limits.”

The original “Tumbbad” told the story of Vinayak Rao’s descent into greed as he sought a mythical treasure guarded by the malevolent entity Hastar. The film earned critical acclaim, winning three Filmfare Awards for its stunning cinematography, art direction, and sound design.

“Tumbbad 2” is set to be directed by Rahi Anil Barve, with Anand Gandhi as the creative director and Adesh Prasad as the co-director. Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi will pen the screenplay. The film will be produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah.

While details about the plot remain under wraps, the teaser and Sohum Shah’s comments suggest a darker and more expansive journey into the world of Tumbbad, promising a thrilling and terrifying cinematic experience for audiences.
