Fri Sep 13 22:46:46 UTC 2024: ## Iyer’s Surprise Wicket Brightens India D’s Gloomy Day in Duleep Trophy

**Port Blair:** Shreyas Iyer, India D captain, experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy, experiencing a seven-ball duck with the bat before claiming a crucial wicket with the ball.

After India A built a substantial 222-run lead thanks to half-centuries from Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh, Iyer introduced himself into the attack in the final over. Against all odds, he managed to dismiss Agarwal caught and bowled on the very first ball.

Iyer’s dismissal of the India A skipper offered a much-needed glimmer of hope for India D, who were struggling after being bowled out for 183 in their first innings, in response to India A’s 290.

Only Devdutt Padikkal (92) managed to cross the 50-run mark for India D, while Harshit Rana’s 31 proved to be their second-highest score.

India D now face the daunting task of clawing their way back into the match. Their bowlers will need to secure quick wickets on the third morning and limit India A’s lead to around 300 runs to give themselves a fighting chance.
