**Goose Creek, SC** – A shocking collision occurred yesterday afternoon when a freight train slammed into a tractor-trailer carrying a military howitzer at a railroad crossing near Highway 52.
Footage of the incident shows debris flying into the air as the train impacts the truck, which was attempting to cross the tracks. The crossing itself was destroyed in the collision and the road was subsequently closed by police.
The Goose Creek Police Department received a call about the incident around 12:30 pm on Thursday. According to police, the trailer, carrying a M109 Paladin Howitzer, was struck while driving over the crossing.
Despite the dramatic nature of the collision, there were no reported injuries and the driver of the truck refused medical treatment.
Howitzers are artillery weapons capable of firing explosive shells and incendiary materials. The incident is currently under investigation.
