**Mumbai, India -** Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday reiterated the government’s commitment to driving economic growth through strong partnerships with state governments. Addressing the third meeting of the reconstituted Board of Trade, Goyal emphasized that government initiatives are key to creating a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable trade environment, ultimately benefiting India’s overall economic landscape.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the launch of the Department of Commerce’s Jan Sunwai Portal. This new online platform aims to facilitate seamless communication between stakeholders and authorities, offering a direct and transparent avenue to address trade and industry-related concerns. The portal provides on-demand video conferencing services and fixed video conference links for scheduled interactions, ensuring convenient access for users. It will be accessible across various offices and autonomous bodies under the Department of Commerce, including DGFT, Coffee Board, Tea Board, Spices Board, Rubber Board, APEDA, MPEDA, ITPO, and EIC.
The meeting also focused on initiatives aimed at fostering employment across states and enhancing the Department of Commerce’s role in promoting state-level economic growth. Representatives from the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh presented their achievements in export promotion, ease of doing business, interventions, and ongoing state-level initiatives. Ministers from 10 state governments participated in the session.
Further emphasizing the government’s commitment to digitalization and streamlining processes, Goyal inaugurated ECGC’s new online service portal, alongside a revamped in-house SMILE-ERP system. These initiatives mark a significant step towards paperless processing and faceless service delivery, benefiting both exporters and banks. The ministry noted that ECGC’s embrace of digital solutions demonstrates its dedication to innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
The meeting concluded with a strong message of collaboration and a shared commitment to driving India’s economic growth through robust partnerships between the central government and state governments.
