Fri Sep 13 10:36:00 UTC 2024: ## Wellington to Host Textile History High Tea Fundraiser for Hospice
Wellingtonians are invited to a unique high tea event on Saturday, September 21st, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Fabric-a-brac market. The event, titled “Material Histories,” will feature a talk by Claire Regnault, Curator at Te Papa and author of “Dressed: Fashionable Dress in Aotearoa New Zealand 1840 to 1910.”
Regnault will delve into the stories behind Te Papa’s textile collection, showcasing the evolution of fabrics, dresses, and quilts through time. The high tea, held at St Anne’s Hall in Newtown, aims to raise funds for Hospice.
“Fabric-a-brac is a market focused on fabric and sewing-related items, where stallholders and customers share stories and memories,” said the event organizers. “It’s a living history of textiles, and we’re thrilled to have Claire as our guest speaker for this special anniversary.”
Tickets for the high tea are available at http://www.fabricabrac.com. The next Wellington Fabric-a-brac market will take place the following weekend, on September 28th.
