Fri Sep 13 08:55:57 UTC 2024: ## St. Lucia Kings Bounce Back with Thrilling CPL Victory

**Gros Islet, St. Lucia:** The St. Lucia Kings (SLK) returned to winning ways in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Friday, defeating the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots (STKNP) by 5 wickets in a thrilling contest.

The Kings, electing to bowl first, limited the Patriots to 173/5 in 20 overs thanks to a strong bowling performance from Alzarri Joseph, who claimed two crucial wickets. Noor Ahmad’s economical spell further restricted the Patriots’ scoring.

In response, Johnson Charles and captain Faf du Plessis spearheaded the Kings’ chase, smashing a 115-run opening partnership in just 10.4 overs. Charles, who was named player of the match, scored a blistering 74 runs off 42 balls, while du Plessis contributed a powerful 62 runs off 31 balls.

Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, the Kings maintained their composure and chased down the target in 16.3 overs with 5 wickets in hand.

The Patriots, currently at the bottom of the table with only one win and six losses, continue to face challenges. The team recently lost Sherfane Rutherford to personal reasons, while the pre-season injury to Sikandar Raza and the unavailability of key players Wanindu Hasaranga and Tabraiz Shamsi have further hampered their performance.

However, there was a glimmer of hope for the Patriots as South African batter Rilee Rossouw returned from injury and scored a quickfire 50 runs off 31 deliveries.
