Fri Sep 13 11:36:00 UTC 2024: ## Former Countryfile Presenter Julia Bradbury Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis Was Almost Missed

**Rutland, Leicestershire** – Former Countryfile presenter Julia Bradbury has opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis, revealing that it was almost missed due to her dense breast tissue.

Speaking on BBC Morning Live, Bradbury shared that she initially discovered a lump almost a year before her diagnosis in 2021. However, after a mammogram and ultrasound, the lump was deemed a benign micro cyst, with doctors suggesting monitoring it.

Bradbury explained that she put it on the “bottom of the list,” but during a final check-up, a small dark pinprick was detected on an ultrasound, revealing an early-stage breast cancer.

“It turned out to be the original lump that I had found. It was in that location, so it had been missed,” Bradbury said. She explained that dense breasts, a common condition affecting over 50% of women, make it difficult to detect cancer via mammograms.

Bradbury underwent a single mastectomy to remove a 6cm tumor. She highlighted the importance of open conversations about cancer, emphasizing that “one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with the condition in their lifetime.”

Bradbury’s story serves as a powerful reminder for women to be proactive about their breast health, especially if they have dense breast tissue. While most breast lumps are not cancerous, it’s crucial to have them checked by a doctor.
