**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was released on bail from Tihar Jail on Friday evening after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case. Kejriwal, who was arrested by the CBI on June 26, was granted bail by a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan.
Kejriwal was greeted by a throng of AAP supporters and leaders outside the jail, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and MP Sanjay Singh.
**Kejriwal Speaks Out:**
Upon his release, Kejriwal addressed the crowd, stating that he has faced many challenges in his life but remained steadfast in his commitment to truth. He claimed the jail experience strengthened his resolve to fight against the “anti-national forces” attempting to weaken the country.
**Conditions of Bail:**
While granted bail, Kejriwal faces limitations. He cannot access the Delhi Secretariat or Chief Minister’s office without prior permission from the Lieutenant Governor.
**Political Reactions:**
The bail decision sparked reactions across the political spectrum. AAP leaders hailed the verdict, emphasizing the “victory of truth” and criticizing the BJP for using investigative agencies for political gain. Opposition leaders, including Omar Abdullah and Tejashwi Yadav, also welcomed the release, emphasizing the importance of judicial independence.
**BJP Responds:**
BJP leaders, however, criticized Kejriwal, urging him to resign citing moral grounds despite the Supreme Court acknowledging the legality of the CBI’s arrest.
**Next Steps:**
The bail order from the Supreme Court is expected to be sent to Tihar Jail soon, initiating the release process.
The case continues to raise questions about political motives and the role of investigative agencies in India.
