Thu Sep 12 07:07:59 UTC 2024: ## China Urges Global South to Build Lasting Peace and Universal Security

**St. Petersburg, Russia** – Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, has called on the Global South to actively contribute to building a world of lasting peace and universal security. Speaking at a dialogue session with high-ranking security officials from BRICS and Global South countries, Wang emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in navigating an increasingly complex international landscape.

Wang highlighted the growing desire for peace and security among nations, especially in the face of geopolitical competition and emerging hotspots. He asserted that achieving global peace and development requires the support of all progressive forces, with the Global South playing a crucial role.

“Gaining momentum in the new century, the Global South should stand ahead and make positive contributions to building a world of lasting peace and universal security,” Wang stated. He urged Global South countries to prioritize dialogue and cooperation, sharing development opportunities and safeguarding their interests.

China, as a member of the Global South, has consistently supported southern countries in upholding international fairness, promoting peace, and fostering development, according to Wang. He also expressed China’s strong support for BRICS’ open development strategy and cooperation initiatives.

China welcomes more Global South countries to join the BRICS family, working together as a force for stability, peace, open development, global governance, and mutual learning among civilizations. This collaborative effort, Wang believes, will contribute significantly to building a shared future for mankind.
