Thu Sep 12 07:07:00 UTC 2024: ## Timperley Cricket Club Celebrates Double Success: Seconds Promoted, Firsts Secure Safety
Timperley Cricket Club enjoyed a weekend of celebrations as both their first and second teams achieved significant milestones.
The seconds secured promotion with a resounding 100-run victory over Bramhall. Abhishek Kulkarni led the charge with a commanding 71 runs, while stand-in skipper Rob Matthews chipped in with a quickfire 40. Muhammad Usman’s impressive 3-20 bowling performance restricted Bramhall to a paltry 112 runs in reply.
Club chairman, Jurjees Hasan, expressed his delight: “I’m chuffed to bits for Shahnawaz and his all-conquering team who have shown great character to bounce back after a suffering a blip in form last month.”
Meanwhile, the first team, despite a heavy loss to title-chasing Didsbury, secured their safety from relegation with two games to spare. The first team, after restricting Didsbury to 90-2 at one point, ultimately fell short in their chase of a daunting 347 target.
Skipper Ed Galley acknowledged the challenge: “It was always going to be a tough game. Timperley restricted Didsbury to 90-2 at one point which was a valiant effort from the bowlers, especially from Callum Yates.”
He added: “The lads are determined to finish the season strongly now.”
The successful weekend highlights the resilience and commitment of Timperley Cricket Club, with both teams achieving their respective season goals.
