**WASHINGTON** – Executives from leading tech companies, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet, will appear before the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee next week to discuss election security threats. The hearing, scheduled for September 18, will focus on efforts to combat disinformation and misinformation online ahead of the November 5 election.
Kent Walker, President of Global Affairs at Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Nick Clegg, Global Affairs President at Meta, and Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, are expected to testify.
This hearing comes amid heightened concerns about foreign interference in U.S. elections. Previous intelligence assessments have accused Russia, Iran, and China of meddling in American elections, allegations these countries deny.
The upcoming hearing marks the latest effort by U.S. officials to address online threats to election integrity. Tech executives have previously testified before Congress on election-related issues, highlighting the growing importance of protecting democratic processes in the digital age.
