**KUALA LUMPUR:** E-commerce giant Taobao Malaysia has announced the launch of its first-ever beta English interface, aimed at making online shopping more accessible and user-friendly for local customers. The move comes in response to growing demand for English language options on the platform.
“We are thrilled to provide a platform that caters to the diverse needs of our Malaysian customers,” said Jess Lew, Country Manager for Tmall Taobao World, Malaysia. “This initiative is driven by the strong demand we have observed from local users, and we believe it will enhance their shopping experience by minimising language barriers.”
The platform will use advanced AI for automated translations, ensuring detailed product descriptions, estimated prices in ringgit, and a user-friendly interface tailored to Malaysian users. Customer support will be available in both English and Chinese, facilitating smooth communication.
Malaysia is the first market, alongside Singapore, where Taobao will be introducing this new offering.
The platform also offers multiple payment options through Antom, including debit/credit cards, e-wallets, online banking, and credit card installments. Taobao’s efficient logistics network, supported by Cainiao, guarantees timely deliveries with order tracking options available.
To celebrate the launch, Taobao is offering several limited-time benefits, including free air shipping on fashion purchases over RMB199, new user perks worth RMB65, and free returns on first-time orders to a local warehouse within 15 days.
This move signifies Taobao’s commitment to expanding its reach in Malaysia and making global shopping more accessible to a wider audience.
